Patient Story #11

When I began Tao Shiatsu treatments I had chronic elbow tendonitis. Almost every activity I would do; washing the dishes, gardening, lifting my young son, or even putting on my seat belt sent pain shooting through my arms. On top of this I also was suffering with debilitating migraines 2-3 times/week.

At first I would have a treatment every two weeks. Within 1½ years my migraines were reduced to about 1- 2 a month, and the tendonitis - almost non-existent. What an enormous relief! But it is not just about diminishment of the physical symptoms – it’s about a therapist and treatment modality that allows me to bring my whole being to be healed. Grief about family matters, fear surrounding my health, anger about my limitations – it’s all welcomed by her. Feeling this acceptance I believe was the turning point that allowed for the healing to occur. When these emotions were allowed to be present, and acknowledged as part of the physical injuries and illnesses, then the release could occur and my body began to heal.

And that’s why I keep coming back for shiatsu treatments. I’ve been receiving treatments almost monthly for 5 years. It is now a part of my health regimen – I do it to maintain my health, and give permission to my body to bring those physical and emotional concerns to a place of welcome where they can be treated and healed. Thank you for making Tao Shiatsu available to people!
